Dacia Monti is originally from Milan and presently returned to Italy after having lived in Greece for more than 15 years.
At the age of eleven, with the purchase of her first disposable camera, she is captivated by the discovery of a parallel world. By the age of twenty, after having bought countless disposable cameras, she finally buys a camera and builds a darkroom where she begins performing magic as she emerges her hands into liquid and brings pictures to life.
This changes for a while as she moves to Greece and suddenly stops taking pictures.
In 2012, the door to photography opens once again when Dacia buys her first “Magical Box” — a digital camera — and begins the journey that she is destined for.
When asked what she feels when she is taking a picture, she replies, “Time stops and there is total silence as I reach into the personality of my subject and capture it in a picture. When I’m able to do this I feel complete!”
Dacia Monti expresses with her photography her Creative Universe. The phrase, a picture tells a thousand words, comes from artists such as her.
